Sri Vishweshathirtha Swamiji was one of the greatest saints known for his selfless service to the society taking care of the underprivileged irrespective of their caste or religion. His concern for the hapless poor seeking medical help was widely appreciated. He started a free clinic more than 6 decades ago at South Bangalore in order to provide basic medical facilities for economically poor sections of the society. Today Sri Krishna Sevashrama Hospital is the most popular community hospital serving millions of poor patients. 

His desire to set up a similar facility was readily accepted by the government and a 2 acre land was given for construction of a multi specialty hospital. The project took off with the help of funds not only from his own resources but also from the state government and a number of donor organisations and philanthropists. The initial plan was revised to make it a 150 bedded multi specialty medical centre. As per the wishes of the current president of the trust Sri Vishwaprasannathirtha Swamiji the hospital is named after his Mentor and Guru.
